Xiaomi Bolsters U.S. Marketing For Two Of Its Mi Products

Xiaomi is kicking up its U.S. marketing strategy with a new program meant to raise awareness of at least two of its products in the country. Primarily, the program, which the company calls its key opinion leader program, centers around the availability of two products. Those are the Mi Electric Scooter and Mi Power Bank Pro. The campaign initially started during the New York Fashion Week event with a more direct focus on the Mi Power Bank Pro. That is said to have resulted in 15 million social media impressions generated by DJ Paris Hilton, Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, and fashion blogger Bryan Boy. Now, the company has kicked it up a notch, bringing in prominent YouTubers such as Wolfie, Wongfu Productions and Austin Evans to lead a new charge. Bearing in mind that the products in question play a smaller role in the associated videos, two of them have been included below for anybody interested in checking them out.

As to the tech products themselves, the first item is a fairly standard power pack bearing a sleek design similar to that of a smartphone in both size and thickness. Obviously, it's a part of Xiaomi's larger range of power banks but the variant currently being sold in the U.S. is the larger 10,000mAh variant. Aside from its slender aluminum design, the portable charger offers two-way fast charging at up to 18W. That should allow for much faster charging that the standard 5V/2A ports used on most products in the category. That ordinarily costs just short of $30 but is on sale for the time being at $26.26.

Moving past that item, Xiaomi also has a more pricey product currently up for grabs in the U.S. which is arguably much more interesting. Of course, that's the Mi Electric Scooter. Shaped similarly to a classic push scooter, Xiaomi's take on transportation runs at up to 15.5 MPH and can go up to 18.6 miles between charges. Power is provided via a 250W motor embedded in an aerospace-grade aluminum frame and the whole thing can be folded down for storage and portability. The price is set at $499.99, which is right around where it might be expected to fall with consideration for other novel people mover designs.
