Samsung Chromebook Pro Is Available With A Backlit Keyboard

For those who have wanted a slightly better Chromebook that features a fully backlit keyboard, Samsung's beast of a flagship Chromebook, the Samsung Chromebook Pro, now comes with one. The only catch is that it can currently only be bought directly from Samsung's website. There may be inventory delivered to third-party sellers or Amazon at some point in the future but, for now, that's the only place to pick one up. The benefits of a backlit keyboard are obvious. For those who have a more difficult time finding specific keys or who may just not want to put in the extra efforts in a dark room, the improvement is immediately noticeable. On the other hand, this will almost certainly cut into the battery life. However, this Chromebook is Energy Star-rated, so that negative effect is likely to be negligible.

As far as Chromebooks go, there are plenty of worse laptop-likes that this could have been offered on. The new model, designated by Samsung as model number XE510C25-K01US, is nearly identical to the previously released Chromebook Pro model number XE510C24-K01US. In fact, the only difference seems to be that the keyboard is of the backlit variety. That means buyers will be getting one of the most powerful devices available running Google's Chrome OS, with the latest features, an S Pen, and a convertible multitouch screen. Android apps are also included with this particular device. For specs, the Chromebook Pro is a metal frame, housing a 12.3-inch 400 nit display with a 2400 x 1600 resolution. Inside, that's driven by Intel's Core m3 Processor, coupled with an integrated Intel HD Graphics 515 for graphics. That's clocked at 2.2Ghz backed by 32GB of super-quick eMMC storage and 4GB of RAM. So there's plenty of power to play around with. Charging of the 5,140mAh battery is provided via USB Type-C and a second of the same port type can be used for HDMI output.

Considering that the price of the new backlit keyboard-enabled Chromebook Pro costs exactly the same as one without that feature on Samsung's site, that all stacks up to a really good deal. This may, in fact, now be one of the best Chromebooks that money can buy. So anybody interested in checking it out for themselves will almost certainly want to head over to the button below.
