How to fix Pandora that keeps crashing on Galaxy S9 Plus

The purpose of this article is to fix the problem with Pandora or your Galaxy S9 Plus so that you may continue using the app. Please note that we can easily get rid of the problem by uninstalling the app to remove it from your phone but the thing is that you can no longer use it. I understand that some of you opt to use this app to listen to music so we want to provide you a real solution here and not just a band-aid to wound. With that being said, here's what I suggest you do about this problem:

First solution: Reboot your Galaxy S9 Plus

Just before doing anything else on your phone, you must try rebooting it if you haven't done it already. App crashes may also be a sign of a minor firmware glitch or issue and there's no better way to fix it than to restart your phone. So, hit that power key and reboot it and after which, open Instagram to find out if it still crashes or not. If it still closes on its own or shows the error message, try doing the forced reboot instead:

  • Press and hold both the volume down and power keys simultaneously for 10 seconds or until the device restarts.

This procedure simulates battery disconnect and refreshes your phone's memory by reloading all apps, services and core functions. If the problem continues even after doing this, then move on to the next procedure.

Second solution: Clear cache and data of Pandora

By doing this, you're ruling out the possibility that this issue with the app only. There are a lot of things that could happen when you're using an app and the most common cause of this problem is corrupt cache and/or data. By resetting the app, you're also replacing those files and here's how you do that:

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  2. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings > Apps.
  3. Tap App Manager.
  4. Locate then tap Pandora.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Tap CLEAR CACHE.
  7. Tap Cached data.
  8. Tap CLEAR.

After this, try to open the app to see if it still crashes and if it still does, you have to do the next solution as it might be a compatibility issue.

Third solution: Uninstall Pandora and then reinstall it

Another possibility why the app crashes is due to a compatibility issue between the app itself and the firmware. But instead of just updating the application, I suggest you uninstall it from your phone so that all its associations with the system and other apps will be removed. This is how you do that:

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  2. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings > Apps.
  3. Tap App Manager.
  4. Locate then tap Pandora.
  5. Tap UNINSTALL.
  6. Review the notification then tap OK to confirm.
  7. Reboot your phone to refresh it's memory and other connections.

Now, to make sure you have the latest version of the app in your phone, download a fresh copy from the Play Store and install it.

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  2. Tap Play Store.
  3. Type 'pandora' in the search box.
  4. Select Pandora then tap Install.
  5. To continue, review the required app permissions then tap Accept.

The first three solutions should be enough to fix a minor problem like this. However, if by any chance the issue continues to bug you and you badly need to use the app, then a reset would be worth it.

Fourth solution: Reset your Galaxy S9 Plus

A reset will always fix problems that are caused by apps regardless whether they're pre-installed or third party. We are often hesitant to suggest this procedure even though we know it can fix the problem because you may lose some of your important files and data as such was the case with some of our readers who complained we haven't given them a warning about it. So now, please make sure you make a backup of your important files and data before the reset and if you don't quite know your Google account and password, it's better you remove it from your phone before the reset so that you won't be locked out. Once everything is set and ready, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys ('Installing system update' will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight 'wipe data / factory reset'.
  5. Press Power button to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key until 'Yes — delete all user data' is highlighted.
  7. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  8. When the master reset is complete, 'Reboot system now' is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.
