ASUS Confirms Gaming Smartphone Is On The Way

ASUS has reportedly confirmed that a gaming smartphone is on the way and that it aims to attack the mobile gaming market. The brand is highly recognizable within the gaming community as a reputable company who produces high-powered and sought-after hardware, so a mobile gaming phone, especially following previous rumors and even concepts of what such a phone may look like, may not be too much of a shock to those that stay up to date on ASUS products. It hasn't shared any details on what the phone would look like or what sort of hardware the phone would contain, but it has apparently teased that its Republic of Gamers brand would be attached to the device name.

ASUS has yet to officially reveal anything in regards to a name of the upcoming device, nor has it led on anything about cost, but something to consider is that while much of ASUS' premium gaming-focused PC hardware can be had for a fairly costly amount, ASUS mobile phones are a different story. Many of if not all of its smartphones are priced extremely competitively when compared to the likes of the other top brands in the smartphone space, so there is a pretty good chance that it would look to price a gaming-focused smartphone in a similar manner and not charge a huge premium for the hardware.

This might be even more likely when you consider the fact that when the phone does release, it's closest competitors are likely to be the Razer Phone and perhaps the recently announced Black Shark phone backed by Xiaomi. As mentioned above this isn't the first that's been heard of in regards to a gaming phone from ASUS. In October of 2017 concept images surfaced of a design for an ASUS "Republic of Gamers" smartphone called the Z3 Venom. Rumors also surfaced about a gaming phone from the company earlier this year at CES 2018. So while there isn't much information about the actual phone just yet, ASUS has now at least confirmed that it has something in the works. Now all that remains is to wait and see what it has to offer.
