[Update: 6GB of RAM] Galaxy Note 8 Emperor Edition to come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage

Samsung is testing a variant of the Galaxy Note 8 that will ship with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, according to renowned Weibo tipster Ice Universe. The handset, which has been dubbed the Emperor Edition, is expected to launch in South Korea alongside the base model that’ll come with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, before inevitably making its way to China.

In addition, Ice Universe revealed that the Galaxy Note 8 will hit the shelves in three colors, including Midnight Black and Orchid Grey. Rival tipster Roland Quant believes that the third variant will be a new Deep Blue hue that’s different to the Coral Blue shade that debuted on the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, though we’re still yet to see any evidence to support his claim.

Recent rumors suggest that the Galaxy Note 8 will sport a 6.3-inch edge-to-edge Infinity Display, an Exynos 8895/Snapdragon 835 CPU and a 3,300mAh battery. It should also ship running Android 7.1.1 Nougat (no, not Android O) skinned with the latest version of Samsung’s Experience — formerly known as TouchWiz — user interface and support Daydream out of the box.

Digital news outlet OSEN reported last month that the firm is working on another model that’ll have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Unlike the Emperor Edition, this variant is set to launch in Europe, North America and South America, where it will carry a price tag of more than $1,100. If that turns out to be true, the Galaxy Note 8 will be the most expensive smartphone Samsung’s released to date.

Update: Ice Universe has altered his original prediction. The Emperor Edition will reportedly ship with 6GB of RAM, not 8GB. We’ve added the new information to the original article.
