OnePlus 5 gets Face Unlock feature with third OxygenOS Open Beta

OnePlus' Face Unlock feature was first introduced with the new OnePlus 5T.This third beta also has some other additions and bug fixes.The final Android Oreo release for the OnePlus 5 is due in early 2018. The third OxygenOS Open Beta build, with support for Android 8.0 Oreo, for the OnePlus 5 is now available to download. First OxygenOS Open Beta with Android Oreo now available for OnePlus 5T

The first Oreo beta for OnePlus 5T came out as promised before the end of 2017.It includes many Oreo features and the December 2017 Android security patches.Oreo will officially launch for the phone in early 2018. After promising that the first OxygenOS Android 8.0 Oreo beta for the OnePlus 5T would be released before the end of the year, OnePlus managed to keep its promise. OxygenOS Open Beta 3 brings face unlock to the OnePlus 5

...A few days ago, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei announced that the OnePlus 5T's face unlock feature would arrive on the 5, "due to popular demand." The feature was not included in the phone's Oreo update, but it has now arrived in an OxygenOS Open Beta for the OnePlus 5.Open Beta 3 was released earlier today, and clocks in at 1.58GB. The most notable feature is face unlock, but there are some other nice improvements as well. The December security patch level is included, issues with 5GHz Wi-Fi connections and vibrations have been resolved, and the Recorder app now has an app shortcut.You can download Open Beta 3 for the OnePlus 5 at the source link below. Keep in mind that this is beta software, so if you want a stable phone, you should probably hold off.

Telegram receives major update that adds multiple accounts support, themes, quick replies

Telegram is one of the not so many messenger apps that are getting major new features on a regular basis. The last update of the year brings Telegram users themes, support for multiple accounts, as well as quick replies.

For iOS users, the developers have added a new Appearance setting, which allows them to choose between four different themes. Some of these themes even allow users to further customize the look of the app by picking an accent color.

OxygenOS 5.0.1 update for OnePlus 3 and 3T brings adaptive mode, more

OnePlus continues to bring new features and improvements to the OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones. There have been at least two important updates that these devices received this month only, but OnePlus doesn't seem to have finished and we can expect more to be released early next year.

Although the last OnePlus 3 and 3T update of the year is nothing major, it still brings a couple of new features that were requested by fans. Also, the December security patch is making its way into both OnePlus smartphones less than a month after its official release.

LG G6 scheduled to receive Android 8.0 Oreo by February, but there's a catch

LG G6 is one of the many flagships that has yet to be updated to the most recent version of Android. Although the South Korean company promised to deliver Android Oreo to the LG G6 as fast as possible, it looks like the update won't make it live until next year.

As some of you probably know by now, LG has already kicked off an Android Oreo beta program for the G6, but it's only available in China. Now we have more information that indicates the Asian version of the LG G6 might be the first to receive the update.

Xiaomi Mi A1 now receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update

Xiaomi's first Android One smartphone, the Mi A1 is finally eligible for an Android 8.0 Oreo update after a short period of beta testing. Unlike many of its Android smartphones that are selling exclusively in China, the Mi A1 is available in a lot more countries.

Also, since it's part of the Android One program, the smartphone should be among the first to receive a major Android OS update. Unfortunately, it took Xiaomi quite a long time to bring Oreo to the Mi A1.

Camera app update reveals names of some unannounced Nokia smartphones
